Why Elephant Shoe Studio? What’s your story?
Simply put, if you mouth the words “elephant shoe,” it looks like you’re saying “I love you.” I love sharing my time, space, work and learning with people and getting to know them!
What kind of metals do you use for your earring hooks?
I use titanium hooks for my earrings and stainless steel posts for studs currently.
Shipping
Most orders will be shipped out within 1-3 business days unless you hear otherwise. I ship using USPS; First Class and regular Priority Mail (gets to you in 1-3 days). I am also able to ship internationally, though send me a message @ elephantshoestudio@gmail.com and we can work that out. If you want to pickup in Massachusetts, there is an option to do so in the cart. Thanks!
How do you support the local community?
For 2024, 10% of my sales will go to the Bremerton Backpack Brigade. At some point in the future, I hope to offer free and sliding scale based workshops to the communities Kitsap County; this is a long term goal.
What is art?
Oxford’s Advanced Learner’s Dictionary says that art is something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings, particularly in painting, drawing or sculpture. I agree with this mostly with the exception that art doesn’t have to show up as painting, drawing or sculpture. It doesn’t fit neatly into a clear cut box; we as makers make the rules. Also, through whose lens of “beautiful” are we looking at art from? Claes Oldenburg’s statement from 1961 always runs through my head when I have this conversation in my classes and with fellow makers. For me, there is no one answer, just guidelines.
